The Magnifique Box (+ a Giveaway!!)

May 27, 2009 12:53 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty
During my trip to NYC, I was so lucky to have some of the nicest weather imaginable. It made for strolling along the streets at night so much better. Saturday night, we were wandering around the Lower East Side, we passed by "The Box" nightclub. Now, I may have been rocking my Dolce & Gabbana smokey eye, but I sure was not dressed to go into the nightclub - as much as I would have loved to (I adore old style vaudville/burlesque times). So, the closest I have come to seeing the inside of it is thru the commercial that the lovely Anne Hathaway recently did for Lancôme's new fragrance, "Magnifique".
Anne shot the video in March, after working with a choreographer for a week prior. There were 100 extras and she was styled by Rachel Zoe for the shoot. You can see the video on the Lancôme's blog, where you can also read about Kerry Diamond's thoughts from the shoot that day. (*If you go directly to the "Magnifique" page you can see a second version of Anne's commercial, but it doesn't have near the fancy footwork as the first one.)

And, as a treat for all my reader Lovelies, I get the chance to give away one (1) bottle of this fragrance, because I missed you guys so much while I was gone. I'll start the giveaway today, and let it go until Midnight(cst) next Wednesday, June 3rd. I will announce the winner on Thursday, June 4th. I'll even make it super simple for you - just enter your name and email addy in the box below. That's it. Easy peasy.

Lancôme's in the house...

March 17, 2009 4:32 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty
Fun news. Lancôme has branched out on the web and started The Lancôme Blog. The blog will be written by Kerry Diamond, our vice president for public relations and a former beauty editor herself, and the other P.R. team members will be pitching in from time to time (and you lovelies know what a fan of Kerry's I am). The blog will cover all the buzz about the brand, from their hottest products, to news about their spokespeople and makeup artists, to what the beauty editors and bloggers are saying about them.

And there will be Giveaways - with a capital G. To start things off, they are giving away 10 bottles of their new skincare product, Génifique. All you have to do is comment on this post letting them what you think of the blog or any ideas for future posts/what you would like to see. That's it. Easy peasy.

Oh, and if you are on twitter, (and really, why aren't you by now?), they are on there as lancomeparis if you would like to follow them on there, too.

I've got your Golden Globes...

January 12, 2009 3:15 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty
I love red carpet award shows. I can't explain how disappointed I was that the Golden Globes were cancelled last year due to the writers strike. So, I was very happy that they went forward this year and that there were stars willing to glam it up and strut the carpet - recession mocession. The Golden Globes are always fun to watch, because they serve food and alcohol to the attendees. However, the food runs out early, so that only leaves the alcohol - which makes the show all that much fun to watch the longer it goes on.

Anyway, this year I was so happy to see Kate Winslet as a leading contender in *2* categories this year, for Supporting Actress in a Drama and Lead Actress in a Drama. I just love her, esp in "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind". And I have to say that she looked every bit the Hollywood Glamour Gal last night - even if she *did* futz with her bodice of her dress just a little too much. Since she is so gorg anyway, it was nice to see such a simple, yet glamourous look on her last night. It also shows just what I have said before - you can mix high-end AND lower-end cosmetics and look fab.

Make-up artist, Jillian Dempsey (who is also the Global Creative Color Director for Avon) was the talent that made Kate glow for the ceremony. She used the following products on her:

All of these worked great to put together a very beautiful look with the pop of red on her lips. Very nicely done!
