Estée Lauder’s Hydrationist Maximum Moisture Crèmes and Lotion

April 20, 2010 4:24 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty

Estée Lauder introduces their most "powerfully hydrating creme to date" in their new "Hydrationist" line. "Instantly, thirsty, dehydrated skin is quenched with NEW and
exclusive Bio-Mimetic Water to deliver immediate moisture lasting 24 hours. With continued use, Estée Lauder’s exclusive NEW Sustainable Moisture Complex™ with Revival Plant Extract helps boost, balance and maintain skin's optimum moisture levels. Over time, it will help skin retain and sustain its own internal moisture for exceptional long-lasting, youth-infusing hydration. Skin becomes stronger, more comfortable and continually hydrated, and is thus better able to resist the signs of premature aging more effectively."

INSTANT HYDRATION:
HYDRATIONIST immediately replenishes thirsty skin with youth-infusing moisture lasting 24 hours. Hydrated at multiple levels, skin’s moisture balance is restored by exclusive NEW Bio-Mimetic Water with the following three unique features:
1. Structured: Bio-Mimetic Water is “structured”, so that it is able to easily assimilate into skin for an immediate burst of hydration that reaches deep within to where skin needs it most.
2. Mineral enhanced: The efficacy of Bio-Mimetic Water is enhanced by the concentration of vital minerals: Magnesium, Calcium, and Zinc. When skin is supplied with these nourishing minerals, it is better able to carry out its natural daily functions, such as barrier repair, more efficiently.
3. Arginase Activator: Once inside the deepest surface layers of the skin, Bio-Mimetic Water helps skin stimulate arginase activity, a natural process that increases the production of urea in skin. Urea is a Natural Moisture Factor and a naturally occurring compound that binds water in skin for increased moisture. As we age, skin’s natural urea production (stimulated by arginase activity) declines. Recent Estée Lauder studies show that Bio-Mimetic Water increases arginase activity by 98% 2 .
Results: Skin feels softer, smoother, and more hydrated than ever. Thirsty skin is instantly replenished with 81% immediate moisture and stays hydrated for 24 hours 3 . The appearance of fine, dry lines diminishes.

LONG-LASTING HYDRATION:
HYDRATIONIST features Estée Lauder’s exclusive Sustainable Moisture Complex™, a blend of powerful ingredients that work over time to help skin naturally build and maintain a strong moisture:
1. Exclusive to Estée Lauder, the Age Measurement Study was conducted over five years, and involved hundreds of women from ages 20 – 70.
2. Based on in-vitro testing.
3. Clinical results based on Normal/Combination Creme test barrier. This powerful complex helps skin hold and preserve its own internal moisture for deep, long- lasting and sustainable hydration.
The Sustainable Moisture Complex™ consists of:
1. Revival Plant Extract (Haberlea Rhodopensis): A miracle of nature, this beautiful Revival Plant has the amazing ability to dry out and survive drought conditions for several months without harm to its well- being. Upon the re-introduction of water, the plant remarkably recovers and continues to flourish, bloom, and grow. The Sustainable Moisture Complex™ featuring Revival Plant Extract helps skin sustain its internal moisture so that it is better able to adapt to everyday exposures that could cause dehydration.
2. Barrier Building Blend: This unique blend delivers a wealth of our most advanced lipids and triglycerides to help strengthen and build skin’s barrier. A special “ceramide activator” also helps build skin’s barrier from the inside out by helping skin activate its own natural lipid production. Moisture is kept sealed in for deep, long-lasting hydration.
3. Trehalose: A naturally occurring sugar in skin, Trehalose helps maintain a healthy water balance inside and outside of cells, providing cells with the exact level of moisture needed to function optimally.
Results: Skin’s moisture barrier is strengthened by 50% after fours weeks of continued use 4 and skin’s ability to stay hydrated 24 hours after just one application also significantly improves with continued use. A stronger barrier and sustainable supply of moisture help skin fight the signs of premature aging more effectively.

UNIQUE, SIGNATURE SCENT:
The signature aqua coral note that lies at the heart of the HYDRATIONIST fragrance is brought to life from the coast of Madagascar. The natural, marine coral scent combines with a hint of algae, fresh ozone, grapefruit, tangerine, and pear to create an aquatic, yet citrusy blend. The natural, green botanical impression is then enhanced with touches of hyacinth, white lily, sheer rose, sandalwood and musk.

USAGE:
Use morning and night after applying your repair serum on clean skin for a more youthful, healthy look. Non-acnegenic. Dermatologist and Ophthalmologist tested.

Almost like Almond pudding

April 15, 2010 8:57 am · Posted by oldergirlbeauty

You guys see this picture? It is not a lie - this body souffle/whipped cream, Votre Vu TARTE D'AMANDE Soufflé Riche Pour Le Corps ( ALMOND PIE Rich Soufflé Lotion for the Body), is almost good enough to put in a cup and eat. But DON'T - its not all safe for that.

One of my favorites scents in life is Almond. I don't know if it goes back to my early Jergen's Original Cherry Almond scent days or if it is just so close to smelling like Vanilla that does it. All I know is that the smell of Almond is like something from above - oh so good. (*Okay, it's not from above, but it IS from France).

As for being as good as pudding, I'm talking about the texture of this souffle. This is a rich, and decadent, body cream, BUT, it is not heavy. It absorbs right in, making the skin feel silky and not sticky. It contains so many fatty acids, oils and vitamins like: Grape Seed Oil, Vital, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Sweet Almond Oil, Macadamia Oil, D Panthenol and Cerasome A and E that are good for your skin, too.

Now, this is more expensive that what I would usually get (RP $48), and I did get this sent to me to try out, but I would HIGHLY recommend this if you ever want to treat yourself or if someone is looking to get you a gift. A little goes a long way, or you can slather it on - your choice. Either way, you are going to feel so treated and soothed you'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner. Cross my heart.

Chillin' with Mario

I know that I have mentioned the Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Herbs And Rosewater before, but back then I wasn't even keeping in the the fridge. When I switched to storing it there this summer, it definitely amped up the love. The cold refreshing spritz to the face startles the hell out of you at first, then it just feel so good and cooling. And with the "good for you" ingredients in it too, its better than just spraying water in your face.  It's a great wake up spray, too, but I tend to just use it when I come in from outside and need a quick pick-me-up to get thru the heat.

Another of the ways to cool down, and clean up, is with the Mario Badescu Special Cucumber Lotion.  This astringent is "Sulfur and soothing Cucumber based, acne fighting formula that is non-drying and non-irritating". You are supposed to use this after you have washed your face to get rid of all the extra dirt still there, but I will use this as soon as I come in from being hot and sweaty and just get all of the nasty dirt off of me quick - then I'll wash properly at some point after that.  Even if I do use it after washing at night, cold or not, it just makes my face feel clean - with out being squeaky.  Now, I am not normally an oily girl, but this really does seem to help keep my skin form breaking out, at least from that.

Oh, and speaking of breaking out, Mario Badescu just launched a new "Acne Resource Center" on their site. It's their central location for acne information, including its causes, how to get rid of it and even get introduced to their "tried and true acne treatment regimens". It's really got a ton of info with even videos of how to use some of the products.

I hate sunburns

August 22, 2009 2:26 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty

I am so pale that I will sunburn if someone just mentions going out in the sun. It doesn't matter how much sunscreen I slather on, there are still those days when I get as pink as Barbie's Dream House. Yes, Aloe Vera is the best thing for soothing the burn, but I sincerely hate the stickiness that comes from Aloe Vera gel.

So, I was so happy when I found Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Skincare Lotion. This lotion has Aloe Vera as the number one, first, ingredient, so you are getting as much relief as with the gel, only with lotiony goodness. It absorbs quickly, and helps keep peeling to a minimum, in my experience. Seriously, even as pale as I am, if I put this on several times a day, after burning, I have found that I don't peel like when I used the sunburn relief sprays or sticky gels. And, by leaving it in the fridge, it feels so good going on the burn - so cold and refreshing, it takes the heat right out of the burn.

The only downside I know of right now, is the fact that I used to be able to buy the large, regular sized bottles at my local Wal-mart, but I can't find it there at all any more. Now, I have been lucky enough to find a travel sized bottle at CVS, so I grab a couple of those, just to have around.

It puts the lotion on the skin....

December 4, 2008 2:26 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty
(...yeah, I am sure I will use that reference *waaay* too much). Anyway...

I ordered a coat from QVC, (double breasted wool peacoat, btw), and in the box was a 4oz bottle of Philosophy's Amazing Grace Perfumed Firming Body Emulsion, (hell of a name, eh?), which I *didn't* order. I looked on the site, and I can't even find any kit, etc., that even has this size bottle in it. So, I am going to consider this a deluxe sample GWP. Thanks, QVC.

Now, my problem is that I don't really care for the scent of Amazing Grace. Just too powdery for me. However, as it is winter and I do get the itchies, I am always on the lookout for a good lotion. If the scent goes away quickly, then I wouldn't mind using it, but if it lingers, then, meh.

But, I am also curious about this "firming" it claims. This size doesn't seem like I would really see any results from it in this amount of time to encourage me to purchase this again. So, I ask you - have any of you tried this and is it worth my time to use it, ignoring the smell? Tell me true...

Eating my cupcake hands

December 1, 2008 3:41 pm · Posted by oldergirlbeauty
I gotta say - I love me some cake frosting. Don't be hating - you know you do, too. Well, we know we can't eat it everyday, but we sure can get a whiff of it everyday, thanks to bodycology. I picked up some of their vanilla buttercream body cream on a recent visit to the big blue store by my house. It smells like cupcakes just sitting on my desk, so when I put this on my hands and arms, I just want to gnaw them off. Yes, that sounds bad, but, holy smokes, this stuff smells as good as any cake frosting I've ever come across. I only got the 2oz size, which was around $1.89 and was small enough to throw in my purse and take it with me when ever I need a little sugar rush.
